Dr. Michael Levy offers “Living In Balance” program in Las Vegas.

To address the important issue of addiction in Southern Nevada, Dr. Michael Levy, founder and medical director of The Center for Addiction Medicine, has established the Living in Balance program in Las Vegas for treatment of addictive disease. The program is the only one of its kind in Southern Nevada.

The six-week intensive outpatient program provides treatment to adults and adolescents for any chemical dependency, including prescription medications, illicit drugs and alcohol.

According to Levy, addiction is a biopsychosocial disease. The manifestation, maintenance and course of addiction are influenced by biological vulnerabilities, psychological predispositions and pervasive social factors.

“With this understanding, we established the intensive outpatient program to draw from cognitive, behavioral and experimental treatment approaches that are specific to a patient’s needs,” said Levy. “It is an effective program. It is unobtrusive, inexpensive, and usually covered by a patient’s health insurance plan.”

Conducted in a nonjudgmental environment, program sessions provide education about addiction, the substances of abuse, triggers, relapse prevention and various emotional components of addiction and recovery in individual and group settings.
