08/19/2010 - News Release

(Las Vegas) – Michael S. Levy, D.O., FASAM, founder and medical director of the Center for Addiction Medicine in Las Vegas, was recently named as a 2010 Healthcare Hero by Nevada Business Magazine.

Levy earned the award in the Care Provider category, and was among 10 healthcare professionals, advocates and volunteers recognized in Southern Nevada. He accepted the award at the fifth annual Healthcare Heroes event on July 28 at M Resort.

Levy established the first medical practice in Nevada specializing in addiction medicine in 1995. At that time, addiction treatment focused on behavioral therapies, and Levy was among a handful of physicians that practiced treatment of addiction as a brain disease.

In addition to his private practice, Levy established an intensive outpatient treatment program in Las Vegas. As medical director of the program, Levy oversees outpatient treatment for adults with substance abuse problems, as well as programs for families affected by chemical dependency. He also started an outpatient treatment program in Las Vegas specifically for adolescents addressing abuse and dependency on alcohol, prescription and illicit drugs.

“My dedication has always been to providing care and hope to patients,” said Levy. “I am extremely honored by and grateful for this recognition.”

Established in 1995, The Center for Addiction Medicine is the only private medical practice in Southern Nevada specializing in addiction medicine. The center, located at 4445 S. Jones Blvd. Suite 3, offers a full range of medical and therapeutic services to patients in the Las Vegas valley. For more information on services, Dr. Michael S. Levy can be reached at 702.873.7800 or online at www.addictionhelp.com.
